Epson print head are widely used for inkjet printer. It uses micro-piezo technology in their printers for decades, and that has built them a reputation for reliability and print quality that few can match. DX5 print head always have a good performance, but with its newer DX7 available as well. Do You know the difference between them ?

The Specifications
The Epson DX5 head is older , it is compatible with both solvent and eco-solvent based inks, and has a native resolution of 1440 dpi, using 1440 nozzles arranged in 8lines of 180 nozzles. It has a firing frequency of 8kHz and a minimum droplet size of 1.5 picolitres.

The Epson DX7 is also compatible with both solvent and eco-solvent based inks, and it uses 6 lines of 90 nozzles for 540 nozzles and a 1440 dpi resolution, the droplet size is the same 1.5 picolitres at 8kHz.

The performance
Epson DX5 and Epson DX7 print head have different advantages. We can make a test and let them print a full size A4 image, you will find that DX5 print head is quicker than DX7 print head,though DX7 maintaining high quality output, the output of DX5 print head is also good.

The suitability
The operating cost is the biggest difference between DX7 and DX5. DX5 print head usually needs a higher operating cost than DX7 print head.

So if you want to save cost, DX7 will be a better choice in the long run. If you want high quality with high speed, then you can choose DX5 print head.
